Publication Design

Image
This project involved making a poster about turtles. In order to get the turtle pictures to wrap the text, I went to text wrap, then I clicked the first option so that it would blend with the text. I also changed the type of font, and the color of the font so it fits with the background. In order to get the background, I went to photoshop and used the gradient tool to make the ocean disappear in the background. I made it so the ocean would stand out on the bottom then fade away as you get closer to the top. This program is an easy and effective way to make a poster

Infographic

Image
For my infographic, I focused on animal cruelty. I tried to make it filled with silhouettes of animals. I added different fonts to make it visually appealing. Another thing I did was, make silhouettes of some of the animal pictures I used. I went into a new file then traced the pictures so that they would paste on the poster without the white around the picture. I also added bright colors to the poster to draw the eye to certain facts. Animal testing is a serious subject globally, and needs to be stopped. We cannot continue to keep testing and killing animals for no reason. We need to ban this in ALL countries, not just a few countries.

Silhouettes

Image
For this project we used one inch squares, and we copied and pasted them, 8 by 8. I decided to make a city scape, and I added building and stars to make it look like the night time. I first made the buildings, and I made black rectangles and decided how big and wide I wanted my buildings to be. After, I added the white windows and copied and pasted the same windows so the windows were even in size for the most part. After I colored in the back ground using the swatches tool, and I made a night scape. After, I added in the stars so it made the landscape like the night time. I made sure the buildings were different in height and width, and I made the windows different shapes and positioned them differently in all of the buildings.

Boxes

Image
For this project, we worked with boxes. First we created the boxes, and made sure they were the correct size. We used the shape tool to do this. Then we copied and pasted the squares so it started to form an even box amount, length and width. We then used the art board tool to expand the size of the box project, and we horizontally flipped the original box structure. After, using the shape tool and the swatches tool, I added shaped and colors to the boxes.

Pencils

Image
For this project, we watched a tutorial and made the pencils. We learned to explore and interact with illustrator. We first made rectangles of different sizes. Then we edited and aligned the rectangles and rounded the rectangles. In order to make the pencil tip, we used the anchor points and added points to the top and bottom. Then we added the 3 other rectangles and shaped them using the anchor points. After I added the different colors in the swatches box.

Final Poster Design

Image
For this poster, I decided to work with the Gay Rights Campaign. First I took pictures from pexels, and I put the rainbow as my background. I cropped it so it would fit the size of the screen. Next, I took the hands and I used the lasso tool to crop out the hands from the background. I made the hands layer 1. After I lassoed the hands, I went back and I lassoed the smaller details from the background. I made sure to get rid of the background around the hands. I also made the hands bigger so that it was the dominant part of the poster. After, I added the text at the bottom of the screen. I wanted to make it bold, yet simple because I have a busy background. I put, "Gay Rights are Human Rights" below the hands. My poster is simple, yet effective in promoting gay rights. It has 150 ppi, and it is 11 by 17 poster frame. The color mode is RGB.

Retouching Work

Image
For this project, we played around with different retouching effects on pictures. I choose a picture of my dog and pizza, because they are my favorite things. First, I took the lasso tool and outlines the picture that I wanted to retouch. After, I went to image, adjustments, then I went to hue/saturation. I played around with the different hues and saturations for my pictures. I made the pizza's different neon colors, and then I made the dog black and white.
